Josh Allens Underthrown Pass Leads to Bills Fourth-Straight Playoff Berth

Josh

The Buffalo Bills have been one of the NFL’s more surprising teams this season, and much of the credit goes to their breakout quarterback Josh Allen. After a promising rookie season, Allen has established himself as one of the better young quarterbacks in the league this year, and he is quickly becoming an integral part of the Bills’ success. But Allen has also had his share of struggles, as evidenced by his recent underthrown pass that was nearly intercepted by the New England Patriots.

The pass, which came on a third down play in the fourth quarter, had the potential to be a game-changing play. Allen had plenty of time in the pocket and was able to step into the throw, but his pass was significantly underthrown and was nearly intercepted by Patriots safety Devin McCourty. The pass ultimately fell incomplete, allowing the Patriots to take over on downs and eventually kick the game-winning field goal.

Following the game, many questioned Allen’s decision-making on the play, suggesting that he should have either thrown the ball away or run for the first down. However, Allen took responsibility for the play, admitting that he simply overthrew the pass and that he should have done better. While it was certainly an uncharacteristic mistake from a usually poised and reliable quarterback, it’s important to note that Allen has still been a major contributor to the Bills’ success this season.

Allen has thrown for over 3,000 yards and 24 touchdowns this season, and he has also been instrumental in leading the Bills to a 8-3 record, good enough for first place in the AFC East. While there are certainly areas of his game that need improvement, Allen has also been a major factor in the Bills’ success, and he’s showing improvement with each passing week. Despite the underthrown pass against the Patriots, Allen has been one of the biggest reasons why the Bills are beating their opponents and remain in the playoff hunt.

Allen’s performance on the field this season is a testament to the hard work he has put in since being drafted in 2018. While he may have made a mistake against the Patriots, it’s clear that Allen has taken major strides this season and is continuing to prove that he can be a leader for the Bills in the future. If he can continue to progress and limit his mistakes, then the Bills have a real chance of making the playoffs and becoming a force to be reckoned with in the AFC.
